Adding Contacts in Bulk (Importing)

Adding Contacts in Bulk (Importing)

Importing a CSV file of your contacts' data is the quickest way to get your contacts into Delivra. The steps below will guide you through the process

The option to import contacts is found on the All Contacts dashboard:
  1. Click on the Contacts icon on the left side-bar
  2. Select All Contacts in the left navigation menu
  3. Click the blue Import Contacts button on the right of your screen

Once in the Import workflow, follow these steps:
Selecting File to Import
  1. Ensure that 'Email' is selected on the toggle and click Browse Files
  2. Select your file then click Next.
Map Data
  1. My file does not have a header: Leave this unchecked if your file has a header row (i.e. row 1 has column names like "Email")
  2. Update existing contact records: Leave this checked, unless you want to the import to only add new contacts and not update existing contacts
  3. Map Columns: Map the fields from your CSV file (left-hand column) to Delivra fields (right-hand) column
    1. Leave all "Update" boxes checked unless there are fields in your CSV that you want Delivra to ignore during the import

Define Import Rules

  1. Import Action: The default option is recommended unless you're doing a special import (e.g., updating contact statuses).
  2. Ignore Blank Fields on Update: Check this to avoid overwriting existing data with blank values.
  3. Allow Only Updates: Check to only update existing contacts; entries with new email addresses will be ignored.
  4. Report Held and Unsubscribed Addresses: This creates an error file listing contacts not updated due to Held or Unsubscribed status (enabled by default).
  5. Create New Tag: Create a tag for imported contacts (you’ll have the option to name it).
  6. Assign to Tags: Add imported contacts to one or more existing tags.

Finally, click import at the bottom of your screen when you are ready

Notes

  1. Contact file imports must be in CSV format.
  2. Email address is the only required data, unless importing data to one-to-many custom table(s).
  3. An Import Report will be emailed to you when the import process has completed that explains how many contacts were imported, how many contacts failed and other import details.
