Can I fix a sent campaign with a broken link in it?

You sent out a campaign and noticed afterwards that one or more of your links are misdirected or landing to a dead page.

There is no way to edit a campaign once it is sent. If the links are of urgent importance (such as event registration, key next steps, or main Call-to-Action for the email we recommend cloning your original email, adjusting the Subject Line to make it clear the links are updated, fix the links, and resend to your original segment.

Linked the wrong PDF file

You sent out a campaign with a link to a PDF hosted in your Media Library but the PDF file either incorrect or outdated and you would like to fix it for anyone that goes back to the email to get the PDF resource.

The best solution is to replace the "incorrect" PDF with the "correct" one. The key in this process is making sure that the new file has the exact same name as the "incorrect" version currently linked in your campaign.

  1. Save your updated PDF (or other Media Library file) with the same name as the file you wish to replace.
  2. Navigate to the Assets dashboard and choose "Media Library" from the left-hand navigation.
  3. Click the "Upload Media" button at the top-right of the page.
  4. Click "Browse" and choose your 'correct' file.
  5. Under "Upload Rules", check the box to "overwrite files that exist with the same name".
  6. Make sure you are saving this new file to the same folder in the Media Library as the 'incorrect' file.
  7. Click "Upload". Click "Ok".

Notes on replacing a linked file

  1. If you are still seeing the incorrect file, Browser caching is typically the most common cause of not being able to see the new file. If you previously opened the linked PDF on your machine, your Browser will remember the old version. To correct this, the cache of your browser must be cleared, which should allow the new file to be seen.
  2. The same is true for any recipients of the campaign who clicked the link before the Media Library file was updated.
  3. Recipients of the campaign that have not yet clicked the link should see the new PDF.
