Common rendering problems seen in Outlook
Have you ever wondered why emails seem to look different in Outlook than what you designed? Outlook uses rendering rules based on your standard Word document, which is not HTML. Because of this, an email designed in an HTML editor will never render exactly correct.
Here are a few tips when using our drag-and-drop editor & you're using Outlook.
- If you want to use background images in your email design, we suggest that you also apply a background color in the event that the background image does not display, or it does not repeat (if you have it set to repeat).
-
Buttons will appear square even if you apply a curved radius. And, only the button text will be clickable, not the entire button in Outlook.
-
Text alignment should be set in the text editor, not in the Cell Style screen. Using the cell style alignment to center, or right align will be ignored by Outlook.
-
Border thickness will be capped at 10px.
-
Line spacing tools in Cell Style will be ignored.
-
Image alt tags/tool tips will not display in Outlook. Outlook forces the display of the URL for security reasons.
This is a short list of known Outlook rendering problems. If you're experiencing something not included in the list, please reach out to our Support team to discuss.
