Contact CSV Import Expected Speeds

Contact CSV Import Expected Speeds

When you're importing contact data into Delivra, speed matters—especially when you're working with large lists. Fortunately, Delivra’s Contact Import system is designed to handle files quickly, often processing over 2,000 records per minute. Still, a few key factors can impact how fast your import completes.

Expected Import Speeds

Delivra’s import engine is built for efficiency, whether you're uploading a few hundred contacts or hundreds of thousands. While it's common to see processing speeds at or above 3,000 records per minute, actual performance can vary based on:

  • Size of the file: Larger files naturally take more time. If you're importing a file with several hundred thousand contacts, be sure to plan for additional processing time.

  • Type of data: Importing new contacts takes longer than updating existing ones. If your file contains mostly new records, expect a slower import rate than if you’re just updating fields on current contacts.

  • Actions being performed: It takes much longer to add contacts than to update existing contacts. If you file is largely new contacts, then expected import times will be longer.

Best Practices and Tips

  • Split very large lists: If time is tight, consider breaking large imports into smaller batches to manage processing and troubleshooting more easily.
  • Avoid re-uploading duplicates: Clean your data ahead of time to reduce the number of unnecessary updates or new records.
  • Monitor progress during off-peak times: Scheduling large imports during lower-traffic periods can help ensure timely processing.

What to Do if Your Import Feels Slow

If your import is taking significantly longer than expected—and the file size or contact type doesn’t explain the delay—Delivra Support is here to help. Please submit a ticket with:

  • Your account name
  • The name of the import file (if available)
