What is an MCP connector, and why does it matter for email marketers?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude to connect directly to external tools and data sources. Think of it as a live bridge between ChatGPT or Claude and your Delivra account.

Without an MCP connector, ChatGPT or Claude only knows what you paste into the chat. With the Delivra MCP connector, it can actually talk to your account in real time. Ask it a question, and it pulls the answer from your campaigns, contacts, and analytics.

What can you ask ChatGPT or Claude about your Delivra account?

Here's where it gets practical. The Delivra MCP connector is built around the questions you ask every day, without the manual legwork.

Campaign performance
  1. "How did my campaigns perform last month?" → Get a synthesized summary of opens, clicks, bounces, and completions by date range.
  2. "Which mailing had the highest click rate this quarter?" → Ranked campaign performance with context, in seconds.
  3. "What's the unsubscribe rate trend across my last 10 campaigns?" → Rate calculations with anomaly flagging, conversationally surfaced.
List and contact health
  1. "How many contacts do I have by status?" → A plain-English snapshot of your list health.
  2. "Show me contacts with bad email addresses." → Held-contact hygiene queries, without a filter in sight.
  3. "Who unsubscribed this week?" → Churn signals surfaced the moment you need them.
  4. "Does this contact exist in my account?" → Useful for pre-send validation and customer support workflows alike.
Scheduling and workflow

Connecting with ChatGPT

The Delivra MCP Plugin allows users to explore email and SMS campaign performance, subscriber activity, engagement metrics, top domains, and poll results directly within ChatGPT.
  1. Navigate to Plugins: In the ChatGPT left sidebar, click on Plugins.: In the ChatGPT left sidebar, click on Plugins.



  2. Search for Delivra: In the plugin marketplace search bar, search for "Delivra".



  3. Install the Plugin: Click the + icon on the Delivra search result, then click the Install plugin button on the plugin page.



  4. Authorization: When prompted, authorize ChatGPT to access your Delivra account.



    1. The plugin requires the following permissions:
      1. Read email campaign analytics (analytics:email)
      2. Read contact analytics (analytics:contact)
      3. Read SMS analytics (analytics:sms)

  5. Click the Authorize button to complete the connection.

Connecting with Claude

Connect Claude to your Delivra account to explore email and SMS campaign performance, subscriber activity, engagement metrics, top domains, and poll results directly within Claude.
  1. Locate the Delivra Connector: Open Claude.ai and click on Customize in the left-hand sidebar menu. Under the Connectors / Directory tab, type Delivra in the search bar.



  2. Select the Delivra connector card (labeled as Community, New).



  3. Connect to Claude: Click the Connect to Claude button on the Delivra connector page.



  4. Authorization: When prompted, authorize Claude to access your Delivra account.



    1. The plugin requires the following permissions:
      1. Read email campaign analytics (analytics:email)
      2. Read contact analytics (analytics:contact)
      3. Read SMS analytics (analytics:sms)

  5. Click the Authorize button to complete the connection.

  6. Configure Delivra account in Claude: Once authorized, open a chat in Claude. Use the Set current Delivra account prompt and provide your preferred account name.



Notes

  1. In authorization steps, please verify that you're connecting to the correct Delivra user email address. This information will be displayed on your screen.
  1. Through the authorization processes, ChatGPT or Claude establishes a secure link to retrieve your Delivra account metrics. These OAuth tokens grant immediate API access without requiring additional configuration in Delivra. To update or revoke permissions in Delivra, navigate to Settings > Users and select the relevant user profile to adjust API privileges.

What's coming next?

We're already working on Phase 2, which will extend the connector's capabilities as we build out supporting API endpoints. Here's what's on the roadmap:
  1. Deliverability health: Get on-demand insights into bounce rates, complaint rates, and list quality.
  2. Behavioral segmentation: Build highly specific segments by cross-referencing open, click, and purchase history—like finding customers who haven’t purchased but have recently engaged.
  3. Automation analytics: Step-level visibility into which flows are performing and where drop-off is happening.
  4. Per-contact engagement profiles: Rolling 30/60/90-day engagement metrics at the individual contact level.
  5. SMS: The same conversational access, extended to your SMS campaigns.
