How can I retain a leading zero in my CSV file?

DESCRIPTION

Retaining leading zeros in an excel file can be tricky.  We suggest you format this data as a custom text field, instead of numeric in your spreadsheet.

HOW-TO

  1. Open your spreadsheet as Excel format
  2. Save the cells as Text Format so that the leading zero sticks
  3. Save the file as a CSV format
  4. Import the CSV into your account
  5. Map the column in question to an available Text field (example, Text1_)
  6. Check Contact records to verify 0 was retained
