How do I add SMS contacts to my account?

This article covers information about adding and managing SMS contacts in your Delivra account.

You can add SMS contacts to your account in a variety of ways:
  1. Setup API calls to add SMS contacts to your account. 
  2. Upload SMS contacts via SFTP drop to our server.
  3. Add a single SMS contact in your account.
  4. Upload SMS contacts via CSV import in your account.
  5. Create a webform that includes SMS opt-in.


Add a single SMS contact

  1. Navigate to the Contacts Dashboard. On the All Contacts page, flip the Email/SMS toggle to SMS.

  2. On the right, click the add contact icon.


  3. Add all necessary information to the contact profile page, including the SMS program keyword & long/short code. If you add an email address on the SMS contact profile, the contact will be added to your Email list and the system will and tie the SMS and email contact records together as the same person. 

Import SMS contacts

You can easily prepare and import a CSV file. 
  1. Navigate to the Contacts Dashboard. On the All Contacts page, flip the Email/SMS toggle to SMS.
  2. On the right, click the Import SMS Contacts button.
  3. Click the Browse button to select your CSV file from your computer. Click the Next button.
  4. Map your column headers to the appropriate SMS contact fields.
  5. Choose an Import Action
    1. You can choose to send a configured SMS welcome or confirmation campaign.
    2. Sending an automated message when importing SMS contacts is optional. Leave Import Action set to Import quietly if you do not wish to send a SMS message to contacts at this time.
  6. Choose the correct keyword & long/short code combination.
  7. Click the Import button.

View SMS import history

Easily find import records for SMS contacts, view import settings and import mapping for the imported file.
  1. Navigate to your Contacts dashboard.
  2. Select Import History from the left menu.
  3. Use the Filter by drop-down to filter the view for SMS Contacts.


  4. Hover over a listed SMS import record and click the View Details button that appears to the right.


View all, search, and edit SMS contacts

View All SMS Contacts
You can view your list of SMS contacts from your Contacts dashboard. From the dashboard, click All Contacts (left). Then toggle to SMS.



Search SMS Contacts
Use the Quick Search Bar to lookup a SMS contact.



Edit SMS contacts

When you have found a SMS contact from a search, hovering over the returned SMS contact record will expose an Edit button on the right side of the page. Click Edit to open the SMS contact's profile. There you can edit basics about the contact, including updating the status and demographics.
