How do I create a segment using Lead Scoring fields & values?
By segmenting on lead status, total lead score, demographic lead score, and actions lead score, you can target specific leads. In this article we'll outline two examples of basic lead scoring segments.
How-To
Create a segment based on Lead Status
- Go to Contacts and choose Segments from the left-hand navigation.
- Click "Create Email Segment". In the pop-up, choose the type of segment. For this example we will create a Regular Segment.
- Give your segment a name and a description.
- Open the "Select Field" drop-down and scroll to the "Score" section. Fields associated directly with Lead Scoring are Lead Status, Lead Score (Total), Lead Score (Demographic), and Lead Score (Action).

- Choose "Lead Status" by clicking on the field name. You will see a segment clause inserted into the builder with 3 parts: the field name, the clause operator, and the value. Lead Status values are pre-determined based on how the status funnel was set up in your account; it is not an open text field.

- Choose the operator and the value desired. For this example, the operator will be "equal to =" and the value will be "prospect".
- Click "Save & Test" to see the segment results on-screen.
Create a segment based on Lead Score (Total)
Before you begin, it is important to understand how your Lead Scoring system is configured. Having an understanding of criteria, scores, and thresholds will help you create the segments you need. Visit the Contacts dashboard and click on "Configuration" seen in the left navigation. Once there, click on "Lead Scoring".
- Go to Contacts and choose Segments from the left-hand navigation.
- Click "Create Email Segment". In the pop-up, choose the type of segment. For this example we will create a Regular Segment.
- Give your segment a name and a description.
- Open the "Select Field" drop-down and scroll to the "Score" section. Fields associated directly with Lead Scoring are Lead Status, Lead Score (Total), Lead Score (Demographic), and Lead Score (Action).

Choose "Lead Score (Total)" by click on the field name. You will see a segment clause inserted into the builder with 3 parts: the field name, the clause operator, and the value. Lead Scores are calculated based on configured demographic fields and actions set up in your account. It is a numeric field. Please visit your Contacts dashboard for details.
- Choose the operator and the value desired. For this example, the operator will be "greater than or equal to >=" and the value will be "81".

- Click "Save & Test" to see the segment results on-screen.
