How do I find a list of everyone that didn't open a campaign?
You may at certain times need to pull a list of all recipients that did not open a campaign either for reporting or remarketing purposes. There are a few ways to achieve building such a list.
Custom Report
Build a custom report to reference this information over time. A custom report cannot be sent a campaign. If you want to be able to send a campaign to this group, see instructions for the segment below.
- Go to Analytics and choose "Custom Reports" on the left-hand menu.
- Click the "Add Custom Report" button (top right). Then click "Contact Report" from pop-up.
- Enter a name for the report. The description field is optional.
- Open the "Select Field" drop-down. Locate and click "Did Not Open" under the Action section. Tip: Use the keyword search option in this menu to narrow items.
- In the Action Clause pop-up box select the campaign(s) you wish to include for evaluation by clicking the listed campaign from the left and using the arrows to move it to the right column.
- Optionally, use the "Anytime" menu to narrow the timeframe of action evaluation.
- Click "Ok".
- Click "Run Report" under the criteria builder (toward bottom of page).
- Save the report if desired to return to in the future.
Note: Availability of Custom Reports depends on your license. For more information, please visit https://www.delivra.com/pricing or email our Client Success team.
Action segment
- Go to Contacts and choose "Segments" on the left-hand menu.
- Click the "Create Segment" button (top right). Then click "Regular Segment" from the pop-up.
- Enter a name for the segment.
Multiple campaigns can be selected.
- Optionally, use the "Anytime" menu to narrow the timeframe of action evaluation.
- Click Ok.

- Click Save and Test and it will pull a list of names. Consider saving that segment as a simple "non-openers" for re-use so you can edit it to the campaign you want to see at any time.
Pro-Tip: If you would like to pull additional fields in with your list of emails click the "Advanced Options" on your segment builder page and find the section "Include columns to display". Select any additional items you want to show.

This is the result page. You can see the email address and the First Name (along with Contact ID). You can always export this to excel as well.
Notes
Regrading custom reports and segments, when multiple campaigns are selected for action clauses the system will use an OR statement between evaluations. For example, when three campaigns are chosen the clause technically reads as "did not open campaign A OR did not open campaign B OR did not open campaign C).
Automation
If you know ahead of time that you will want to resend your campaign to non-openers and you are on a Professional license or above, consider using our automation tools. Visit our e-Learning hub for online modules to learn more about automation & other Delivra features.
