Hyperlinks: Web, Email, Phone, Documents (and more)

Hyperlinks are an important part of any email. They allow your recipient to engage further with you by visiting your website or another online location to read more, make a purchase, etc. In this article we'll cover how-to steps for popular link types. Instructions below cover creating links on text in a text box using the text editor, however buttons and image links have the same linking options.

  1. Highlight the text to be clickable.
  2. Click on the Insert Link icon. 
  3. Choose Normal from the Hyperlink Type drop-down.
  4. Paste or type the web page URL in the URL box.
  5. Confirm your link text, set your color, tool tip, and link reporting name.
  6. Click Apply Link when done.

  2. Click on the Insert Link icon. 
  3. Choose Email from the Hyperlink Type drop-down.
  4. Paste or type the email address in the Email Address box.
  5. Confirm your link text, set your color, tool tip, and add a stock subject line and body text for the email if you wish.
  6. Click Apply Link when done.

  2. Click on the Insert Link icon. 
  3. Choose Phone from the Hyperlink Type drop-down.
  4. Paste or type the phone number in the Telephone Number box.
  5. Confirm your link text, set your color, and add a tool tip.
  6. Click Apply Link when done.


Anchors (a.k.a. jump-to, bookmarks)

Anchors can be used within the email itself to link to various places within the content. An example would be creating a table of contents for your email newsletter so that readers may jump to sections of interest. There are two general steps to using anchors: drop the anchors and then link to the anchors.

Drop anchors
  1. Place your cursor where you'd like to drop an anchor.
  2. Locate the anchor icon in the text editor (right).
  3. Provide a name for your anchor in the pop-up then click Ok.
Tip: use dash or underscores between words instead of spaces; browsers handle spaces differently and this ensures a consistent experience.

Link to the anchor
  1. Highlight the text to be clickable.
  2. Click on the Insert Link icon. 
  3. Choose Anchor from the Hyperlink Type drop-down.
  4. Select your anchor name.
  5. Confirm your link text, set your color, tool tip, and link reporting name.
  6. Click Apply Link when done.

 

Delivra provides a way to link to the hosted content file online. This is called an Online Version link. This type of link is typically inserted at the top of your emails by default but many customers will place it within their email design.
  1. Highlight the text to be clickable.
  2. Click on the Insert Link icon. 
  3. Choose Online Version from the Hyperlink Type drop-down.
  4. The web address will be pre-set for you, which is where the current content file lives on our server.
  5. Confirm your link text, set your color, tool tip, and link reporting name.
  6. Click Apply Link when done.

  3. Choose Forward to a Friend from the Hyperlink Type drop-down.
  4. The Web Address will be pre-set for you.
  5. Confirm your link text, set your color, tool tip, and link reporting name.
  6. Click Apply Link when done.


Many customers send an opt-in confirmation email to new subscribers. These messages require a special type of link for the recipient to click to confirm joining the email list.
  1. Highlight the text to be clickable.
  2. Click on the Insert Link icon. 
  3. Choose Needs Confirm from the Hyperlink Type drop-down.
  4. The web address will be a preset merged URL. 
  5. Confirm your link text, set your color, tool tip, and link reporting name.
  6. Click "Insert".


Linking Delivra assets

Easily create text, image, or button links to preference centers or other forms, landing pages, and more. Note: your form or landing page must be in the published status in order to link within your design.

Preference Center links
  1. Highlight the text to be clickable.
  2. Click on the Insert Link icon. 
  3. Choose Preference Center from the Hyperlink Type drop-down.
  4. Click the pencil icon next to Select Form.
  5. Choose your Preference Center form in the pop-up. 
  6. Confirm your link text, set your color, tool tip, and link reporting name.
  7. Click Apply Link when done.


Unsubscribe form links
  1. Highlight the text to be clickable.
  2. Click on the Insert Link icon. 
  3. Choose Unsubscribe from the Hyperlink Type drop-down.
  4. Click the pencil icon next to Select Form.
  5. Choose your Unsubscribe form in the pop-up. 
  6. Confirm your link text, set your color, tool tip, and link reporting name.
  7. Click Apply Link when done.

Landing page links

  1. Highlight the text to be clickable.
  2. Click on the Insert Link icon. 
  3. Choose Landing Page from the Hyperlink Type drop-down.
  4. Click the pencil icon next to Select Form.
  5. Choose your Landing Page in the pop-up.
  6. Confirm your link text, set your color, tool tip, and link reporting name.
  7. Click Apply Link when done.

Linking to hosted files

Uploading and linking PDFs (and other file types) in your content can be a quick and easy way to share resources like studies, pricing documents, and whitepapers with your prospects and customers. There are two general steps to linking files: upload the file to your Media Library and then creating a link to the file in your content.

Upload the file
  1. Navigate to the Assets dashboard. You will be dropped in the your Media Library.
  2. Select the blue Upload File button (top-right).
  3. Click the Browse Files button.
  4. Select the PDF, or other file, from your computer.
  5. Click the blue "Upload" button (top-right).
Link to the file
  1. Highlight the text to be clickable.
  2. Click on the Insert Link icon. 
  3. Choose Normal from the Hyperlink Type drop-down.
  4. Click the Choose File button.
  5. Click Documents from the pop-up.
  6. Select your file.
  7. Click Insert File.
  8. Click Apply Link when done.
