How do I "test" the segment or category?

Delivra offers a helpful test feature that allows you to preview which contacts belong to a specific tag or segment. This is especially useful when validating your segmentation logic or confirming contact counts before launching a campaign.

What It Does

Using the Test function provides a real-time list of contacts currently matching your chosen tag or segment criteria. It's a quick way to confirm the health and accuracy of your targeting without needing to send a test email or run a full campaign.

How to Test a Category or Segment

  1. Navigate to the Contacts dashboard.

  2. In the left-hand menu, click Tags or Segments, depending on what you’d like to test.

  3. Use the search bar to find the name of your desired tag or segment.

  4. Hover over the listed item and click the drop arrow on the Edit button to the right.

  5. Select Test from the dropdown menu.

This action will return a list of contacts that currently qualify for that category or segment.

Notes and Considerations

  • Segments are dynamic. That means their results can shift throughout the day based on changes in your contact data (e.g., new signups, unsubscribes, or updated field values).

  • Don’t be surprised if the number of contacts shown during one test differs slightly from another test conducted later—especially for segments tied to behavior or subscription status.

Best Practices

  • Use the test feature before sending any campaign tied to a complex segment to ensure your audience is being captured as intended.

  • Pair this tool with your email preview tools for an end-to-end check before launching high-impact sends.

  • Consider naming your segments descriptively (e.g., “Recent Purchasers - Last 30 Days”) to make testing and validation easier down the line.
