Managing your Email and SMS contacts
The Contacts dashboard is your central hub for managing subscriber records in Delivra. Here, you can view, import, and update your contacts across two distinct communication channels: Email and SMS. These contact types are stored and managed separately, allowing your subscribers to opt into or out of each channel independently.
This separation provides greater flexibility in how you engage with your audience. For example, a subscriber may choose to receive promotional emails but opt out of SMS updates—or vice versa.
Delivra supports multiple methods for bringing both Email and SMS contacts into your account. While the processes are similar, SMS contacts include some mobile-specific options.

SMS Contacts Can Be Added Via:
Manual import of a data file
-
Automated data transfers via (S)FTP or API
-
Web form submissions
-
Mobile opt-in using a keyword (e.g., texting “JOIN” to a text-enable number)
You can link an individual's Email and SMS records in Delivra so that both channels are associated with a single subscriber profile. This allows for unified communication preferences and data tracking. Linked records can be established through:
Importing a file of SMS contacts that contains both email address and phone number fields
-
Including Email opt-in as part of the mobile SMS opt-in process
-
Combining Email and SMS fields on a single web form submission
Best Practices and Tips
Keep your import files clean and consistent. Use separate columns for email addresses and mobile numbers when linking contacts.
-
Use progressive profiling in forms to gradually collect both Email and SMS details from contacts who initially sign up for one channel.
-
Respect opt-in status across channels. Just because a contact opts in to one method doesn't mean they’ve consented to the other.
Practical Use Cases
Cross-channel campaigns: A new subscriber opts in to SMS updates via text, and your form includes an email field—automatically linking both records.
-
Data syncing: Your CRM exports a file with both email and SMS fields that you import into Delivra, connecting both contact types for more holistic segmentation.
-
Preference management: A subscriber uses your form to update preferences, opting out of SMS but keeping email—each record is managed independently.
