Product Glossary

Understanding the terms used throughout the platform is essential for navigating and using features effectively. This guide breaks down commonly used terms across different areas of the product, providing quick definitions and helpful context.

You’ll find terms grouped by feature category to make browsing easier. 

Account Management

  • Settings: The gear icon in the left navigation bar that leads to account-wide configurations like user roles, integrations, and branding preferences.

  • Favicon: A small icon shown in browser tabs for hosted forms and landing pages, supporting your brand visibility.

  • Footer: Standard information automatically included in campaign emails (e.g. company name, address, unsubscribe link).

  • Homepage Notification: Internal alerts displayed on account dashboards, useful for managing multi-account structures.

  • Sender Address: The visible “From” address on emails; can be managed in your account settings.

  • Site: A collection of linked accounts under one organization, allowing shared resources and oversight by a Site Administrator.

  • Account Dashboard: The homepage of an account, offering activity insights like send volume and campaign performance widgets.

Analytics

  • Mobile Statistics: Insights into recipient environment, browser, and client types for email opens.

  • Bounce: A failed email delivery. Soft bounces are temporary; hard bounces are permanent.

  • Click (Clickthrough): Tracks user interactions with email links.

  • Complaint: When a recipient marks your email as spam. These contacts are automatically unsubscribed.

  • Rejection Message: Feedback from a recipient's mail server explaining why a message failed.

  • Report Group: A tool to bundle campaigns into a single report, useful for time-based or topic-based analytics.

  • Total Open vs. Unique Open: Total includes repeat opens; unique counts each recipient only once.

  • Mailing Engagement: A summary score of recipient actions like opens and clicks. Useful for comparing campaign effectiveness.

Assets

  • Email Templates: Saved email designs for reuse. Templates can be in draft or complete status.

  • Landing Pages: Web pages built within Delivra for redirects, confirmations, or special promotions.

  • Preference Center: A hosted form that lets contacts manage their subscriptions.

  • Content Snippets: Reusable content blocks for templates or emails.

  • Subscribe Form: Used to collect contact info for new subscriptions. Can be hosted by Delivra or embedded.

  • Template Repository: A shared library for multi-account customers to centrally manage templates, snippets, and images.

  • Media Library: File storage within your account for images, documents, and hosted email assets.

Automation

  • Automation: A workflow-based tool for sending timely, relevant emails based on behavior or data.

  • Lead Alert: An internal notification email triggered by contact behavior or form submission.

  • Clicked on SMS: Evaluates if a recipient clicked a link in a prior SMS message.

  • Duplicate Step: Allows reuse of a step's settings elsewhere in the automation.

  • Evaluate Email Contact: A real-time check of contact data to guide branching logic.

  • Exit: Removes contacts from a workflow and optionally transfers them to another.

  • Export CSV: Sends a file of contacts who reached that step to an internal address.

  • Pause: Adds time delays between workflow steps.

  • Purchased from Clickstream: Evaluates purchases made through Clickstream tracking.

  • Remove Step: Deletes a step from the automation builder.

  • Send Email / Send SMS: Steps to send a campaign in the automation journey.

  • Stop: Ends a workflow path while preserving the ability to expand in the future.

  • Subscribed to SMS: Evaluates if a contact is SMS-subscribed before sending messages.

  • Update Email Field / Update Category: Modifies contact data or category tags during automation.

  • Split / Rejoin Split: Divides a contact group randomly and rejoins after testing different paths.

  • Join Paths: Merges separate paths after a condition step to continue a unified journey.

Campaigns

  • Draft Campaign: Saved email that has not yet been sent or scheduled.

  • Preheader: Optional preview text following the subject line in inbox displays.

  • Regular Campaign: A standard, manually or scheduled-sent campaign.

  • Suppression List: Email addresses excluded from specific sends, independent of unsubscribe status.

  • Triggered Campaign: Sends based on data or behavior.

  • Multivariate Campaign: Compares versions of an email to determine performance impact.

  • Automated Campaign: One-off triggered messages like welcome or confirmation emails.

  • Email Rendering: Previews how your email appears across devices and clients.

  • Send Rate Limiting: Throttles email delivery over time to manage deliverability.

  • Send Time Optimization: Delivers emails when recipients are most likely to engage.

  • Spam Analysis: A pre-send test that checks for spam trigger issues.

Contacts

  • Contact: The individual records in your database, each with unique data fields.

  • Custom Fields: Data fields for storing info like name, address, or preferences.

  • Tracking Preferences: Determines whether behavioral data (opens, clicks) is tracked per GDPR.

  • Banned: Indicates a contact reported a mailing as spam; they’re blocked from future sends.

  • Picklist: Predefined values for a custom field to ensure consistent data.

  • Status - Normal: Contact is active and can be emailed.

  • Lifetime Engagement: Ongoing score based on past interactions like opens or clicks.

  • Unsubscribed: Contact has opted out and cannot be sent future campaigns.

Deliverability

  • Whitelist: Manual allowance of your email address or domain to bypass spam filters.

  • Authentication: Setup of SPF/DKIM to prove the legitimacy of your domain.

  • Spam Trap: Old or fake addresses used to detect non-permission-based emailing.

Email Design

  • Stylesheets: External CSS files for applying advanced styling to emails or landing pages.

  • Repeater Group: Email layout that repeats for multiple rows of data (e.g. product orders).

  • Dynamic Content (Who Sees This): Shows different content based on contact data.

  • RSS: Allows content from feeds to be pulled into emails automatically.

  • Drag-and-Drop Editor: Visual tool to design emails without coding.

Segments

  • Segment: A dynamic audience group based on data or behavior.

  • Tags: A tag used to group contacts for targeted mailing.

  • Triggered Segment: A segment that updates dynamically and sends based on dates or behaviors.

  • Segment Snippet: Reusable conditions that can be pulled into new segments.

User Management

  • Account Administrator: A user role with varying permissions to access account features.

  • Site Administrator: Oversees all sub-accounts within a site and manages users and roles.

  • Customer Administrator: Used by Delivra partners to manage multiple clients.

  • Role: A defined set of permissions.

  • Permission: Individual access rights within a role.
