Create a subscribe form

Create a subscribe form

What is a subscribe form?

Forms are used to collect subscriber information. When the form is submitted, it will add a new contact to your Delivra account or update an existing contact with that email address in your account. Typically subscribe forms are embedded on external websites or social media pages and we recommend that you ask potential subscribers for minimal information—only what you plan to use specifically for email marketing.

You will create and manage forms in the Assets dashboard of your account.

How do I create a form?

In the Assets dashboard click "Forms" from the left menu. Then click the "Create Form" button to open the design workflow.
Tip: Open images in a new browser window for a larger view.

Step 1

In the "Form Details" box, provide a name for the new form file.

Optionally choose to store the form in a folder.

Step 2

In the "Design" box, choose the type of form you want to create: Subscribe, Preference Center, or Unsubscribe.

Click to select.

Step 3

Also in the "Design" box, choose the style of the form you want to create: Classic, Hanging Banner, Floating Box, or Pop-up.

Click to select.

Form styles are applicable to the subscribe form type only.

Step 4

Lastly in the "Design" box, choose how to start the form design: From Template or From Blank

  • If from a template, select the radio button for the template file to use.
Then click the "Save and Next" button in the top-right of the page to continue.

Step 5

Use the drag-and-drop editor to build the design of the form. Drag in contact fields, images, text blocks, tags, and buttons from the left as needed. The minimum requirements are an email field and a subscribe button.

Note: If you chose a form style, it will be represented with a webpage backdrop.

When done with design, click the "Save and Next" button to continue.

Step 6

In the Preview step of the workflow you can review a browser version of how the form will render.

Click "Save and Next" when done.

Step 7

In the last step of the workflow, Finalize, you will export or copy & paste the form code. This code should be hosted on your website.

  • Choose to use the Code Snippet if you want to reference the form from Delivra (via API) to display the form on your website.
  • Choose to Export HTML if you want to host the full form on your website.

How do I export my form code?

Your form is complete and now you need the HTML to implement it on your website. There are two common ways to export this code from your account.

Export form HTML code from the Form library

  1. Navigate to the Assets Dashboard and click "Forms" from the left-hand navigation
  2. Locate and hover over the form you want to export and click the Edit drop-down menu
  3. Click "Export HTML"
  4. Depending on your browser and browser settings, it will either automatically download a file or ask you to save the file to your computer.  If you are asked to save as a type of file, select ".txt". By default most browsers will download to a ".html" format.
  5. Once downloaded, send that file to your web designer so that they may implement the code onto your website.

Export form HTML or Snippet code from workflow

  1. In the Form creation process, go to Step 4, Finalize. You will see the options to display Code Snippet or HTML Export. Once selected, click the Export button.

  2. This should open an HTML file in a new browser window. The HTML file that is typically displayed will be blank.
  3. You will want to right click to View Page Source.

  4. This will open the actual code snippet you will need to add to your website.

How do I use form publishing?

Our form publishing feature makes it easier for customers to initially publish and keep their forms up-to-date by removing the need to export the form's HTML and updating it on their website either the first time, or every time a change is made.

How It Works

Form publishing requires a code snippet to be placed on the website. When present, that snippet will call the Delivra account to grab the most recently published version of the form to display to a page visitor.

To use form publishing, your form must be published. From the Forms library, hover over your form to expose the Edit button & drop-down menu. From the menu, select "Publish".
