Using Page-View Data in Segments

Using Page-View Data in Segments

Action-based segment clauses in Delivra let you create dynamic audiences based on how contacts interact with your emails and website. By filtering contacts based on behaviors—like viewing a specific product page—you can tailor follow-up campaigns that resonate with individual interests or buying signals.

For example, you could create a segment of contacts who viewed a pricing page but didn’t complete a purchase, and send a targeted message offering more information or a limited-time discount.

How It Works

Delivra’s segment builder allows you to add clauses based on view behavior. These clauses rely on data captured via clickstream tracking, making it possible to pinpoint user activity and use it to personalize outreach.

To get started:

  1. Go to the Contacts dashboard.
  2. Click Segments, then select Create Email Segment.
  3. Choose the type of segment: Regular or Triggered.
  4. Provide a name and description for your segment.
  5. In the segment builder section, open the Select Field drop-down.
  6. Scroll to the Action section and choose Viewed or Did Not View, depending on your targeting goal.

From there:

  • Select the mailing to narrow the clause to specific campaigns, or leave set to “Any mailing” for broader behavior tracking.
  • In the Web page drop-down, check the boxes beside any listed URLs you want to include. Click the + icon to add them to the clause.
  • Use Select All to include all available URLs.
  • To remove a URL, click it, then hit the red X.
  • If you use tags to group pages (like product categories), use the Tags menu instead of listing URLs. This is a great option for simplifying large-scale segmentation.
  • Choose a timeframe for the action: “anytime,” “before,” “within,” and more.
  • Click OK to add the clause to your segment.

Best Practices and Tips

  • Keep segments focused by limiting the number of URLs or tags you include—this makes your campaigns more relevant.
  • Use tags to streamline workflows, especially for larger product catalogs or content libraries.
  • Pair with triggered automations to instantly respond to behaviors like viewing a key landing page.
  • Test segments regularly to ensure tracking data is feeding correctly into Delivra via your clickstream integration.

Practical Use Cases

  • Follow up with contacts who viewed a product page but didn’t convert.
  • Re-engage users who browsed your pricing page without signing up.
  • Send educational content to contacts who visited a features page.
  • Trigger a coupon email to anyone who viewed a sales landing page.

Key Limitations

  • The Viewed/Did Not View and Purchased/Did Not Purchase clauses require the implementation of clickstream or anonymous clickstream tracking.
  • The Purchased clauses are only supported through Delivra’s native clickstream integrations. Purchases tracked through external systems may not qualify.
