Using the Next Automation block

Using the Next Automation block

The Next Automation block is an essential tool for managing intricate workflows across multiple automations. It allows you to break down large, complex processes into smaller, more manageable automations while maintaining a seamless flow for your contacts. This prevents your automations from turning into unwieldy, hard-to-manage "monster" workflows.

How It Works

Using the Next Automation block is simple and intuitive:

  1. Drag and Drop: Place the block at the end of a branch in your automation.
  2. Select Your Automation: Click the Select Automation button, and a screen will appear where you can choose the automation you want contacts to move into.
  3. Contact Progression: When contacts reach this step, they’ll transition to the selected automation.

Important Details to Remember

Though this block is easy to set up and use, there is one major point to remember when using it:
  • Starting Point in the Next Automation: Contacts will enter the next automation at the first step after the entry point.
    • For example, if the selected automation begins with an email followed by a pause, contacts will skip the email and move directly to the pause step.
    • This allows you to enter contacts into an automation even if they would not necessarily qualify, allowing you to plan for edge cases that would be difficult to account for otherwise.

Why Use the Next Automation Block?

  • Simplify Complexity: Instead of cramming everything into one large automation, divide your workflow into smaller, more focused automations.
  • Improved Organization: Manage and troubleshoot workflows more efficiently by keeping individual automations clear and concise.
  • Scalability: Linking automations makes it easier to adapt and expand your workflows as your needs evolve.

The Next Automation block empowers you to build efficient, organized, and scalable workflows by connecting separate automations into a cohesive system.
