Dynamic Content (a.k.a. Who Sees This)

Dynamic Content (a.k.a. Who Sees This)

Dynamic content allows you to display personalized content to different audiences—all within one email. By tailoring sections of your campaign based on contact data like interests, preferences, or behaviors, you can deliver more relevant messages without building multiple versions of the same email. This features is also called Who Sees This in Delivra's system.

How It Works

"Who Sees This?" uses data in your account—like contact fields or, soon, tags—to determine which version of content each contact sees. You define the rules through display profiles, and Delivra handles the rest during send time.

For example, if a contact is interested in handbags, they’ll see promotional content specific to that category, while others might see content for shoes or apparel—all delivered from a single email campaign.

Setting Up Dynamic Content

  1. Select a content cell in your template or campaign.

  2. Open the "Who Sees This?" panel on the right and click the ( + ) icon to create a new display profile.

  3. Name the profile, set your criteria (field, operator, value), and choose if a contact must match all or any conditions.

  4. Add more rules or groups if needed, then save the profile to the email or to your account for reuse.

Once dynamic content has been applied to your content, a new button will appear near the Save and Next button of the editor. Clicking this button will highlight all cells that have dynamic content applied and will show the Who sees this profiles that are applied.

You can also easily see what profiles are active in any given cell. Simply click on the cell in question then open the Who sees this drop-down. All profiles that are active in the selected cell will have a green checkmark displayed next to them

Applying Dynamic Content in a Campaign

To implement dynamic content effectively:

  • Start by building the full email for the Default profile. This acts as your base version and fallback for contacts who don’t match any profiles.

  • After completing the Default content, use the “Who Sees This?” dropdown to select the first profile.

  • Update any sections of the email that should be unique for that audience.

  • Repeat this process for each profile that requires specific content.

Contacts who meet criteria for multiple profiles will only see the content from the first matching profile in the list. You can adjust priority by dragging profiles up or down in the panel to change the order.

Default Profile

Every dynamic section includes a Default profile, which cannot be deleted or edited. It ensures every contact sees content, even if they don’t match any specific profile.

Managing Profiles

Dynamic profiles can be edited or deleted by selecting the profile from the Who sees this dropdown and clicking the pencil
or trash can icon.
  • Edit: Use the pencil icon to change criteria.

  • Delete: Use the trash icon and choose whether to remove it from the current cell or entire email.

Saving Profiles

Dynamic profiles can be saved at the account-level to allow for reuse in future email templates and campaigns. This alleviates the need to rebuild profiles in individual templates/campaigns. How To: When building a profile, click the Save to Account button when saving (as opposed to clicking the Ok button).

Testing Dynamic Profiles

Preview and testing capabilities are built into the create a campaign and create a template workflows for easy testing of dynamic content profiles.

Preview
In the Preview step of the email template or campaign workflow, you will find a "Dynamic Profile" drop-down menu to select a profile to preview, or to show dynamic content for a specified email address:

Test
In the Test step of the campaign workflow, you will find a "Send the following profile" drop-down menu to select a specific profile to test, or test a random profile. Testing for a specific email address is not available.

Best Practices and Tips

  • Design and complete your Default version first to serve as your campaign foundation.

  • Save profiles to your account if they’ll be reused frequently across campaigns.

  • Use clear, descriptive profile names for easier management.

  • Prioritize profile order intentionally—top-listed profiles take precedence.

  • Works best with clean, consistently structured contact data.

Practical Use Cases

  • Retail: Show different product spotlights based on past interest or purchase behavior.

  • Nonprofits: Personalize messaging for donors, volunteers, and newsletter subscribers in one email.

  • Events: Display agenda sections or reminders based on ticket type or session sign-up.
