Setting up standard SMS opt-in messaging
When your SMS keyword & short/long code has been configured for your account, one of the first tasks to complete is finalizing the standard opt-in messaging for your program.
These messages are sent to subscribers in various stages of opt-in and include messaging like welcome, already subscribed, invalid response, error, etc.
Where to update opt-in messages
Our team will setup standard language for these messages initially but you can update the messages anytime in your Delivra account.
- Click the Settings icon (left).
- Click SMS.
- Click Opt-In Messaging.
What does each message mean?
Send double opt-in to confirm SMS subscription | Use this message to serve as double opt-in confirmation. Double opt-in is highly recommended (but not required) for all subscribers joining SMS marketing programs.
- If you plan to use a SMS subscription form on your website or social media pages, you are required to have a double opt-in confirmation setup for your program.
- Depending on the information you are requesting to confirm opt-in, you will also choose a SMS field to save the subscriber's response to in your account, like zip code, birthday, name, etc.
When configured in Settings, this will be the first message sent to the subscriber (on their mobile device) and requires a response to complete the process of joining.

|
Send follow-up welcome message | Use this message immediately after the initial welcome message (above). This message is typically used to invite the subscriber to join your email list too.

Saving subscriber responses
Two of your opt-in messages, Send double opt-in to confirm SMS subscription and Send a follow-up welcome message, can be used to collect information from the subscriber initially. When using these messages to collect a response, you can choose to save the response to a SMS contact field.
SMS contact data fields available for saving responses:
- Zip Code
- Birthday
- Name
- Email Address
- Custom
If you collect email address as a response, the email address will be added to your email database. This will link the SMS & the Email contacts in the system, identifying them as the same person.
Additional language included with opt-in messaging
The message received by SMS recipient will display all wording configured in your text box + standard language for opting out, getting help, and data rates: "To opt-out text STOP [Keyword] to [Short Code] MSG & DATA RATES APPLY text help for more info. Max 30 msgs/month."
