How do I use a custom stylesheet with my email design?

Using External Stylesheets for Mobile Email Design

For designers comfortable working with CSS, Delivra offers the ability to upload and apply external stylesheets to control the mobile styling of emails. This gives you full flexibility over responsive design, allowing you to define global styles that apply across your template or campaign.

What Are External Stylesheets?

External stylesheets are .css files you can upload to your Delivra account and attach to an email template or campaign. They provide a method for defining mobile-specific styles outside the inline or embedded CSS typically used in email design. This feature is intended for users with CSS expertise who prefer to hand-code their mobile email responsiveness.

How to Upload a Stylesheet

  1. Navigate to Assets in your Delivra account.

  2. In the left-hand menu, click Stylesheet.

  3. Click the Upload Stylesheet button.

  4. Click Browse to select and upload a .css file from your computer.

Applying a Stylesheet to a Template

  1. Go to Assets.

  2. Hover over the template name and click Edit.

  3. Select the Style tab in the editor.

  4. Scroll to the Stylesheet section.

  5. Select your uploaded stylesheet from the left pane.

  6. Use the arrow to move it to the right (applied).

  7. Click Save to apply the changes.

Applying a Stylesheet to a Campaign

  1. Go to Campaigns.

  2. Hover over your campaign name and click Edit.

  3. Navigate to the Design step.

  4. Click the Style tab.

  5. Scroll to the Stylesheet section.

  6. Select your uploaded stylesheet from the left.

  7. Use the arrow to move it to the right (applied).

  8. Click Save to finalize.

Notes and Best Practices

  • External stylesheets only apply to mobile email rendering.

  • We recommend thorough testing before using a custom stylesheet in a live campaign.
