Hide Cells for Mobile or Desktop Views

In responsive email design, layout flexibility is key. There may be times when you want certain content visible only to mobile or desktop users—for instance, due to how tables stack on smaller screens, or to offer a mobile-exclusive promotion. Delivra’s drag-and-drop editor makes it easy to control visibility by device.

How It Works

You can selectively hide individual cells of your email design from mobile or desktop devices by adjusting cell-level settings in the email editor. This allows you to create more targeted and visually optimized experiences for each type of viewer.

To Hide a Cell for Mobile

  1. Click on the cell you want to hide.
  2. On the right-hand panel, click on Cell Style.
  3. Check the box labeled Hide cell for mobile design.

This setting ensures the selected cell will not display when your email is viewed on most mobile devices.

Notes on hiding cells for mobile devices
  1. Some Android devices may not honor the hidden cell setting—be sure to test across multiple devices.
  1. This setting may not persist if the email is forwarded or replied to within an email thread.

To Hide a Cell for Desktop

  1. Click on the cell you want to hide.
  2. On the right-hand panel, click on Cell Style.
  3. Check the box labeled Hide cell for desktop design.

This setting ensures the selected cell will be hidden when viewed on desktop devices. , and also while previewing the campaign in Delivra’s Preview step.

Notes on hiding cells for Desktop
  1. The cell hidden for desktop will also not be seen when previewing the template/campaign in the Preview step.
  2. This setting may not be preserved in forwarded or replied email threads.

Best Practices and Tips

  1. Use hide settings strategically to deliver contextually relevant content to mobile or desktop viewers.
  1. When hiding content, make sure the rest of your layout still flows naturally on all devices.
  1. Always test your email designs thoroughly before sending—especially when using advanced visibility settings.

Use Cases

  1. Mobile-only Offers: Promote app downloads or exclusive SMS discounts by showing a special block to mobile viewers only.
  1. Optimized Layouts: Hide wide image banners for mobile to maintain readability.
  1. Dual Designs: Present distinct desktop and mobile views in the same campaign for maximum flexibility.
