Managing Contacts via SFTP

Using SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) is a reliable and secure method for automatically importing contact data into Delivra. This method helps businesses streamline data management, especially when frequent or large-scale contact updates are needed.

What is SFTP?

SFTP, or Secure File Transfer Protocol, is a network protocol that allows files to be transferred securely between systems over a secure connection. Unlike standard FTP, which transmits data in plain text, SFTP encrypts both commands and data, offering an extra layer of security. It is commonly used for sensitive data transfers and integrates seamlessly with many data management systems.

SFTP typically requires:

  • A host URL (the server address you are connecting to)
  • Authentication credentials (such as a username and password)
  • A default communication port (usually Port 22)

How SFTP Imports Work in Delivra

SFTP is available to all Delivra customers at no additional cost. However, before you can begin using it, your SFTP setup must be configured by our Support team.

Key Delivra SFTP Details:

  • Host URL: sftp://sftp.delivra.com
  • Port: 22 (default SFTP port)
  • Authentication: Username and password created by Delivra Support during configuration

Once your SFTP account is configured, you can securely transfer files to import or update contact data across your Delivra accounts.

Important to note:

  • Each Delivra account must be handled separately. A file uploaded to one account will not update contacts in other accounts.
  • If you manage multiple accounts, you must upload a separate file to each account’s SFTP directory.
  • You can upload files with different mappings as long as each file follows a unique and consistent naming convention.

Managing Your Imports

After your file is uploaded via SFTP, mapping the fields from your file to Delivra contact fields is done through the Delivra user interface. Field mappings must be configured ahead of time to ensure smooth imports.
